I am contacting you regarding a translation research that I am currently working on. I would like to ask about the possibilities of cascading a survey that has been created for this purpose among teachers and students who deal with translation. The online survey is available at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1gHGpm8JM5ec8gMdxaZxxmdJ01DUfIkCJ-J70pXWO-i0/viewform.
The research within my PhD studies deals with the sociological aspects of translation abroad. I come from Slovakia and I did a similar research with Slovak translators 2 years ago. They were given questions and after analyzing the responses I was able to create a general image of a Slovak translator. Currently I plan to bring a new image into the topic - an image of the translation profession as such abroad - and then compare these at the end.
As for the practical output, I would need as much translators from around the world as possible to complete the survey. Furthermore, I would be more than happy if you could spread the word by sharing the survey link with other teachers and students that you think would also be willing to help. As a student and translator myself I know there are some students that already have the experience with professional translating and it would mean a lot to me to hear their feedback on the topic as well. The topic only takes about 10 minutes to complete.
I have already sent the link to several sites, forums and companies worldwide and I am hoping to get more feedback until the end of this year from universities teaching translation, too. Hopefully this does not bother you as I received some translators' comments about this being "one of the most interesting surveys" and "a very valuable research that tells us more about the art of our profession".
Thank you very much.
